The cards valued from Ace to nine is the face value of the card and all face cards and tens are considered to be a baccarat, which actually means zero. Therefore, a player's hand consisting of a three and a ten would have a score of three and a player4s hand with two face cards has zero.

History of Baccarat

The game of Baccarat ("bac-car-ah") has been the entertainment of gamblers since the Middle Ages. In earlier times, the game was played with cards extracted from a Tarot deck.

Baccarat was introduced from Italy to France during the reign of Charles VIII of France who ruled from 1483 to 1498. It became a very popular game amongst French nobility.
